With our world acclaimed fighting instructors, Summer Camp 2011 will most likely play out as this year's best week for your martial arts training. Every training session at MMA Academy is thoroughly laid-out to maintain an integrated, red thread through all classes. To ensure this, every class will cover a specific, pre-defined theme and aims at building a complete picture together with previous and following classes - which is why the main focus will lie on techniques rather than physical exercise. Despite the classes focusing more on developing technical skills we cannot stress enough that you show up in good shape for Summer Camp 2011.

At the camp we also offer strengthening morning yoga-sessions every day, private classes with your favorite fighter, and also special theme classes.

Group Levels

There are different group levels to match your level of experience, ranging from beginner to seasoned pro. To be able to optimize the classes to match your level we have chosen to divide the classes into different levels – four different groups at the 'MMA Camp' and three different groups at the 'Muay thai & MMA Striking Camp'

While signing up, please be honest to yourself on which level you belong. If you by mistake end up in a group too advanced for you, there is a chance you will not only learn less, you will also bring down the momentum for the rest of the group while also being at a higher risk of getting injured. Be advised that the instructors may at any time move you to a higher or lower class if they feel you're in the wrong group with regards to your skill.

To allow for every student to get personal attention from the instructors at all classes, we will only take a limited number of students per group level (max 20 pairs per session) which is why you shouldn't wait too long with

Please read more below for each camp week what levels we offer.

Try MMA for a day on the 28th of June!

This summer we also offer a special one-day class for all of you who are interested in trying MMA, or just want to do something different and challenge yourself for a hot summer’s day.

Welcoming and introducing you to all the secrets of MMA is the one and only Magnus ”Jycken” Cedenblad. Magnus is one of the top-rising stars on the Swedish MMA scene, and he is a really happy and outgoing fellow who’ll fill your day with laughter, sweat and a love for a new sport.

This one-day-class costs 395 SEK, includes two training sessions – one in the morning and one in the afternoon – a superb lunch, and also some time to just relax in the sun and hang out by the beach.

If interested in signing up, just send us an email directly to info@MMAacademy.se. If you think any of your buddies, lovers, neighbours or colleagues might be interested in this class, please don’t hesitate to spread the word. Thanks.

Morning Yoga

You've probably heard of fighters including kettle bells in their training, but did you know that many of the biggest stars also include yoga in their training sessions?

You see, yoga is an outstanding complement to all martial arts as it among many other things improves your flexibility, dexterity, strength, presence and recovery. Upon dedicating a day of martial arts training it can be real nice to awaken your body and mind with a session of morning-yoga. Stiff muscles will soften and the body feels stretched out and gets prepared for the coming punches, kicks, throws, takedowns, sweeps, chokes and locks. For the early birds attending the camp a yoga-inspired session will start at 07.15 every day.

Kettlebells seminar

Lots of pro fighters are swinging kettlebells as an important complement to their regular fighting training. Since the aim with MMA Academy is to make you all better fighters, and we believe strength and stamina is an important part in that journey, we want to give you all the opportunity to try kettlebells yourself.
Therefore we offer one kettlebell evening class per week for all campers at MMA Academy Summer Camp 2011, to help you try out kettlebells and get instructions and personal tips from our very own kettlebell expert.

Private Classes

Have you ever been dreaming of receiving personal coaching and feedback from a world-class fighter? Here's your chance. During the camp you have the opportunity to put your name down for private classes with any of our camp instructors, on a first come first serve basis

A private class at Summer Camp 2011 is just like the ordinary classes divided into level of experience. Please be advised that private classes aren't private in the sense that you are all alone with the instructor – rather you will be training alongside up to maximum three fellow students depending on how many from your group that chooses the same private teacher as you. In some cases a private class may also be shared in between students from two adjacent group levels. The price per student for one hour of private tutoring is SEK 350, which must be considered incredibly reasonably priced for 55 minutes of full attention from your coach. That's what we call affordable luxury.

There are regrettably only a very limited number of private classes with each instructor, so we recommend that you don't think it through for too long before you decide. Rumors have it, that the interest is at an all time high. Email us in advance, or sign up for your private classes when registering your place at the camp.

Special Theme Class: Bring your home club's training to the next level – exclusively for you as a coach

Furthermore, Waldo Zapata will be giving an exclusive and specialized class for you instructing at your home gym that want to excel your gym's fight training to a higher level. In this class the awesomely talented tutor Waldo, with his pretty much peerless understanding for how to fight from both your feet and on the ground, will give you inspiring and handy hints and tips in bunches on how to make you a better fight-coach. Highly recommended, to say the least, and if this special class doesn't evolve your abilities as a trainer we give you a full refund of the fee. Could this offer become any better?

"This has been one of the most intense, fun, and inspiring weeks for many years. So f***ng great! I haven't missed anything. Thanks."

Level 1: I'm a total beginner! (MMA for Dummies)

Is martial arts really that fun they all say it is? Can it really be that fun kicking and throwing punches? Does your boyfriend (or girlfriend) spend lots of time at the local martial arts gym – and you would like to try it out yourself?

For those of you with no previous martial arts experience, this group offers a perfect and fun introduction to the sport. Your main guide to the lovely world of mixed martial arts will be no less than Magnus Cedenblad – one of the finest in modern day Swedish MMA. Besides, he is also one of the loudest and friendliest – his smile and laughters can't be missed even if you want to. In this group you will also have the privilege to train with many of the other instructors at the camp, such as Jörgen Kruth and Elina Nilsson.

During the camp week Magnus and friends will build your fighting from step one. Basic punches, kicks, elbows, knees – but also chokes, take-downs, basic ground and pound and some other MMA essentials are on the menu. And no worries, focus will be on having fun while working out, NOT at hurting each other.

No matter whether you're tall, short, fat, skinny, have boobies or a penis, curly hair or a six-pack - or all of the above in a lovely combination! – you're more than welcome to "I'm a total beginner (MMA for Dummies)".

Level 2: Beginners/Intermediate

This group is not for absolute beginners to stand up fighters. Rather, in this group you have been doing muay thai, kick-boxing or a similar martial art for up to a year or so. Or you might be an MMA fighter not so confident in your stand up game.

Irrespectively, you do really like stand up fighting and believe you could benefit from an overhaul of the fundaments of your game from some of the best in the game.

Level 3: Intermediate

To qualify for this level you have been training muay thai, kick-boxing or MMA for a couple of years. You feel quite confident in most type ofstand up techniques, be it kicking, boxing, knees, clinching and so on, and you know how to use your balance and footwork to make your techniques more effective.

You have also discovered that your way of sparring must be varied depending on your opponent and that your game has to be adjusted accordingly, and you know how to mix attacks at different levels (legs, body, head) and distances. Lastly you've realized the distinction between sparring with and against your partner.

Level 4: Advanced

At this level, your stand up fighting is impressive. In this group we will work on improving your already strong fighting foundation with effective and powerful kicks, devastating knees, vicious elbows, superb clinching techniques, irritating sweeps, dirty boxing, sparring tactics – in other words everything you need to dominate your opponent.

Self-awareness and the ability to focus on your weaknesses is one of your most important abilities – you are very familiar with what aspects you need to improve. You are capable of full-contact sparring with preserved control, and when you spar after your training sessions it isn't rare that fellow students hang around and try to learn from you.

You are most likely one of the absolute best fighters at your home gym, and maybe you've begun assisting the coaches at your home gym. Some of you may even be one of the most influent instructors at your local gym.

In this group, you will also find a handful of the camp instructors training in between their own classes.

Level 1: Beginners

At this level, you have either trained MMA for up to six months (but still think that you could benefit from an overhaul of the fundaments of your game) or you have been training any or several other disciplines such as muay thai, boxing, wrestling, BJJ or grappling.

In other words, you do have at least some martial arts experience*. Besides, you have a great interest in MMA and are keen to be further introduced to the sport by some of the best in the game. Just bring your training gear, protection (cup, mouth-piece, shin-guards, boxing- and MMA-gloves) and not to forget a large portion of energy and enthusiasm and we'll take it from there.

* = For those of you with no previous martial arts experience, we offer a perfect introduction to the sport in our group called Total Beginners scheduled for the second camp week. Please read more about this group to the right. Warmly welcome!

Level 2: Intermediate

To qualify for this level you have been training MMA (shoot fighting/vale tudo) for a year or two. You feel quite confident on your feet as well as on the ground and know a handful of ways to secure a tight rear naked choke as well as a kimura. You have also discovered that your way of sparring must be varied depending on your opponent and that your game has to be adjusted accordingly. Lastly you've realized the distinction between sparring with and against your partner.

Level 3: Intermediate Plus

This group is suitable for those of you that has been training MMA for several years and feel that you are fairly well versed in the majority of the offensive as well as the defensive techniques.

You might have entered the ring a couple of times, or contemplated to start competing. Or you just love the sport and work-out for the fun of it. No matter, even though you feel quite skillful in MMA, you still feel you don't belong in the Advanced/Elite group. Yet.

Level 4: Advanced

At this level, your MMA-game is starting to become impressive.

Some of you may even one of the most influent instructors at your gym. You probably seize every chance you get to compete and are also ranked among the best in your country's weight class.

In this group, you will also find a handful of the camp instructors training in between their own classes.
