Inspired and incredibly satisfied with the calm environment of previous years' Summer Camp, we once again return to the beautiful settings of Vackstanäs. With its great training facilities, superb food, flexible accommodation alternatives, service-minded personnel, and idyllic location- we believe this is the place to be to make the best possible camp for you.
"For me it was a completely magical week that I'll never forget. Things that makes your life crazy adventurous with a feeling of lots of love and gratefulness towards it."
Mariela Perez Martinez, Team Gringo BJJ
Vackstanäs and the training facilities
Vackstanäs is an idyllically located training facility in the woods of Södermanland, just an hour south of Stockholm, creating an optimal location for us athletes.
Furthermore, the facilities are secluded so we can train in peace and maybe best of all – it creates the ultimate setting for a nice atmosphere in which we all share the same wonderful interest; the passion for martial arts!
With outstanding training facilities Vackstanäs offers all the things you really need to get a good exercise. Besides from the light and spacious training room, with two huge mats, there's also stretching areas, a weight-lifting room and also running tracks in the woods for the cardio-freaks. And let's not forget the nice and fresh locker rooms equipped with hot showers and saunas.
Furthermore, the facilities offer all the extra conveniences one could wish for in between training sessions and lectures. Vast lawns where you can relax in the sun are surrounding the whole area and the directaccess to a private beach and diving rocks just around the corner may create some fantastic afternoons and evenings just on their own. What's more are fields for beach volleyball and football, but also a video corner, a computer area with internet access, pool tables and a café if you get tired of spending time out in the fresh Swedish summer breeze.
Accommodation
At the camp there are four different options of accommodation:
Dorm room
In order to keep the price of admission for the camp at a minimum we've chosen the classic way of living at camps as the standard accommodation. The dorms come in three designs – for girls, for guys or mixed. Just bring a pillow, sleeping roll and sleeping bag or bed linen and we can assure there's plenty of space for you.
Single-, double-, or triple room
Since Vackstanäs usually is a boarding school, where students both study and live, there are also more luxurious options for those who prefer it. For an added fee we provide accommodation in single, double or a triple rooms. Some of the rooms have their own bathroom and shower while others have these services just down the hall. If you choose a double or triple room we will place you with someone who has picked the same option as you (we won't mix guys and girls together unless you ask for it), and if you want to share room with one or two buddies please let us know when registering and we will take care of it.
The food
At Summer Camp 2012 you definitely will have to get nutritious and tasty food – and lots of it! – in order to keep you going with the training. You will be able to, and moreover should, fill up your tank with breakfast, lunch, dinner and an evening snack. There will be a selection of courses at every meal and you can eat as much as you'd like. If you have any allergies or other certain requests on the food, please let us know and we'll work it out.
At last year's camp the participants were all really excited about the chow and gave our own chef Mårten Lindqvist a gold star for his truly fine duties. Mårten has run his own restaurant and is preparing food on a daily basis to elite athletes of numerous junior national teams, so we have little disbelief that you will end up disappointed. If the weather allows it, we'll carry the grills down to the beach and throw a BBQ in the evening - isn't that camp life or what?
Lastly, Vackstanäs has its own café open during the camp, so if you get a sudden desire for perhaps a fruit, a power bar or maybe even Mårten's custom-made (and truly outstanding) protein shake you may look no further.
