MMA Academy's part in improving the image and social recognition of MMA and muay thai is to create all-serious, regular and returning events – training camps and weekend seminars – to help all you fighters out there taking your fighting skills to the next level. Through our events we want to show that martial arts isn't about human cock fighting with savages pounding each other to pieces, but rather about serious athletes seeking out their best mental and psychical shape through training and competition in a controlled environment. Therefore, we won't rely on pure chance when planning our events – everything should play out just the way we want it to.
Quality is the prologue – dedication the epilogue.
"This summer's camp wasn't just an ordinary martial arts camp but a huge step for MMA in Sweden. No old prejudices of fighters with poor attitude, no more beefs between teams and no boring old traditions. Thanks for the best thing that happened in 2009! Hard and pedagogical training, swimming, sun, good food, nice camp organizers, morning-yoga and top accommodation made this an unforgettable week"
Patrik Hallmén, ex- blogger at Fightplay.tv
Absolute top notch
First of all we want our events to be fully top class – our vision is to create Europe's best MMAand muay thai camp. Ever. Using only the most acclaimed instructors and lecturers, each with a list of super credentials, is the be-all and end-all of our future undertakings. In addition, what we provide in terms of training facilities, food, surroundings, atmosphere and other extra activities shall also be true to our promise of delivering absolute top class.
Club-independence, fellowship and good morale
The second pronounced purpose of MMA Academy is to build events completely independent of team associations. Historically, the Swedish
as well as the international MMA scene has rather been dominated by various team associations with sometimes quite frosty connections in between them. It's a shame really, especially since everyone in the MMA community wants the sport to evolve, as well as conquer a public acknowledgement, and place itself alongside the more publicly accepted sports.
Our contribution to overcome this is to create events with a warm and welcoming atmosphere in which everybody can (and wants to) come along.
Regardless of which team you usually train with, you should feel more than welcome to participate at our camps. We put a high value on the atmosphere – we don't condone the macho attitude often confused with MMA and martial arts in general, rather we stress the fellowship of fighters while having a great time together with friends. With this in mind, we sincerely hope that our events could help in bridging the gaps between different teams and that the MMA scene keeps on growing.

The people behind MMA Academy
Behind MMA Academy you'll find two happy fellows. Our names are Noa Fridmark and Linus Johansson. Both of us have been involved in martial arts, be it MMA, submission wrestling, boxing, karate or taekwondo, for several years.
Noa is our own adrenaline junkie who gets a kick from everything that makes the adrenaline level go sky high. MMA has been a part of Noa's life for more than ten years and he's been competing with mixed results in both the cage as well as in the ring. His sharpest talent is however being one of the masterminds in designing awesome training camps, rather than being an MMA fighter. Besides from martial arts, Noa has a keen interest in surfing which has taken him far and wide discovering a majority of the world's surfing hotspots. Once, Noa also had a position on the Swedish national team in the Olympic sport of diving. You can contact Noa at: noa@MMAacademy.se
Linus on the other hand is MMA Academy's designated control-freak who happily pounds the mitts and sharpens his technique rather than goes into a round of heavy sparring. Linus martial arts career began in the mid 90's with the signature acrobatic kicks of taekwondo, but nowadays his heart lays most with boxing and muay thai. However, on recent years Linus has grown an interest to develop his MMA skills. The secret diving talent of Noa's is matched by Linus's national championship gold medals in Lindy Hop, a swing dance in which he a couple of years back was among the true and hardcore elite of the world. Hence, his footwork and coordination should be much-feared among fighters, but is it, really? You can contact Linus at: linus@MMAacademy.se
Past MMA Academy camps
At our previous camps the spirit has been at an all time high throughout the weeks, to the extent the chef at Vackstanäs appointed us, to a happy roar from the crowd, as "the nicest group of people he's ever worked with". We can only agree. With participants in all ages and both genders and from some 100+ different clubs, not a rain cloud for the whole week, about 25 degrees (Celsius!) in the lake, BBQ-parties, beach volley ball, and, not to forget, awesome training has resulted in downright triumph. Feedback from previous participants has been outstanding, our hats are off. The quotes on this site origins from previous camps – go ahead and read them to get the whole picture of the camp from the participants' and instructors’ own perspectives.
"The only thing I'm disappointed with is that I didn't think of this myself."
Waldo Zapata, main instructor at Summer Camp 2009, 2010 and 2011
